Personal hygiene refers to those set of practices that people perform to maintain their health and prevent many diseases. When kids are in their late childhood, the central focus of child primary on the essential habits of personal hygiene, for example, includes washing your hands after you have had your meal and making sure that you cover your mouth when you are coughing. As children enter into teenagers, certain new habits are a list of teens’ hygiene tips. These habits are crucial to be adopted to ensure the health and well-being of teenagers. Parents can offer maximum support and guidance to their teens during the process, as this will help them develop personal hygiene for themselves.

There is no denying that hygiene becomes even more important during the critical years for ensuring good health. It is equally as crucial as it is essential and adults. Apart from the general reasons behind the hygiene practices, there are also some specific ones for teenagers. 

Skincare:

Personal hygiene tips for teens are incomplete without shedding light on skincare. When teenagers attain their puberty age, it is normal for their skin to become oilier than before. What oily skin does is that it tends to trap dust and dirt particles, which further serves as a breeding platform for the germs. Not just this, it also results in the development of different types of skin-related issues, such as blackheads and acne. Therefore, it has been advised that it is suitable for teenagers to make sure that they develop a proper skincare routine; this can be done by washing their face regularly with mild soap or any facial cleanser and water. If the respective teen is facing persistent skin issues, he/she must consult a dermatologist. The professional will be able to prescribe such skincare products that are appropriate, for example, mild creams and mild acne cleansers. 

Nail care:

Almost every girl who has reached her teenage loves growing nails, styling the nails into various shapes, and designing them. But one thing which needs to be kept in mind is that nails prove to be an ideal breeding platform for the germs. Therefore, personal hygiene tips for teens include nail care as well. The germs on nails tend to get transferred into your mouth when you are eating with your hands. Apart from this, even if you touch your face, germs can go into your mouth, nose, and eyes. This poses a threat to your health, and so it becomes essential for you to make sure that you are maintaining nail hygiene. You can make use of a scrubber as it can scrub all the dirt out of your nails; you can even use a nail brush. Apart from this, it is also advised to clip your nails every week, as this will allow you to get rid of any dirt on the nails and further help reduce the chances of painful ingrowth of nails.

Haircare:

It is a relatively known fact that teenagers are more outgoing as compared to children. Which results in their hair as well as their skin becomes very dry. Apart from this, the hormonal changes that occur in the body of a teenager tend to make their hair smelly and oily. Furthermore, the respective thickness of the coat of teenagers tends to compound the issue. Therefore, parents need to encourage their teenagers to wash their hair regularly while using any mild shampoo, at least two or three times every week. Another tip is that for the nurturing of hair, teens can various hair care products which are homemade, but that too after consulting from a trichologist. Personal hygiene tips for teens include hair care, as well. 

Bathing:

It is a relatively known fact that the development of sweat glands in the genital areas and the armpits lead to body odor. This is because the bacteria present on human skin tend to feed on the compounds in the sweat glands from the regions mentioned above, causing body odor. Body odor is one of the significant concerns about personal hygiene tips for teens. The solution to this concern is that parents need to explain the importance of bathing to the teens, most significantly after physical activity. Reason being that it helps in removing bacteria and sweat, which further results in the prevention of body odor.
